The Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple is an exciting addition to the religious landscape in Utah. Announced by Prophet Russell M. Nelson on October 3, 2021, this impressive facility will significantly enhance the area’s offerings.

Key Features of the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple

The Temple will occupy a 17-acre site, slightly larger than the previous location, which was only 15 acres. A notable feature of the new Temple is its single attached central spire, which will not include the gold-leafed Angel Moroni; the original Angel Moroni is currently in storage.

Dimensions and Design

Covering an expansive 163,000 square feet, the exterior of the Temple will be clad in granite. It will rise 81 meters (265 feet 6 inches) into the air, providing a striking profile against the Utah skyline.

Exterior Improvements

Recent work has focused on cladding and sheathing the exterior and installing windows. Landscaping efforts are well underway, with trees planted around the perimeter and sod placed in various areas. There has also been substantial improvement in the landscaping and waterscapes, creating an inviting environment.

Construction Timeline

Construction began on February 24, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the area’s development. The rendering of the Temple was released on November 24, 2021, giving the public a glimpse of what to expect.

Completion Expectations

The Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple is expected to be completed by late 2027. Once operational, it will be the sixth Temple in the state of Utah, contributing to the growing spiritual needs of the area, which, at the time of the announcement, had approximately 16.8 million members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and around 500 congregations.

The Address

For those interested, the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will be located at 2200 Temple Hill Dr, Provo, UT 84604.

In the coming months, there will be additional updates, including a comprehensive video showcasing the landscaping and overall progress. Be sure to stay tuned for more information on this exciting development.
