Covering a 17-acre site, this Temple will exceed the size of its predecessor, which occupied 15 acres. The decision to remove the road in front of the old Temple made room for this larger and more accessible facility.
The exterior of the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will be finished in granite, imparting a classic and enduring aesthetic. Unlike the original Temple, which featured a gold-leafed Angel Moroni, the new design includes a single central spire without this iconic element, as the original figure is currently in storage. The Temple itself will occupy an impressive 163,000 square feet and will be built to a height of 81 meters, or 265 feet 6 inches.
Construction and Design Progress
Groundbreaking for the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple occurred on February 24, 2024. As of now, the construction process is making substantial headway. The exterior cladding is underway, along with the installation of exterior windows. Landscaping is also progressing, with trees being planted around the perimeter and sod laid down recently.
