Key Milestones in the Sacramento California Temple History
The announcement of the Sacramento California Temple came on April 21, 2021, igniting excitement within the area. The groundbreaking and site dedication were conducted on August 22, 2004, by the Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, marking an important phase in the Temple’s journey.
Following its construction, a public open house took place from July 29 through August 26, 2006, allowing the community to experience the space before its grand dedication. On September 3, 2006, the Temple was dedicated by the same Prophet who engaged in its early phases, Gordon B. Hinckley.

The Sacramento California Temple is constructed on a generous 46-acre lot that includes a chapel sharing part of its parking facilities. With an exterior of light gray granite, the building complements its surrounding environment beautifully.
