The journey of the Reno Nevada Temple began with its announcement on April 12, 1999. Shortly thereafter, on July 24, 1999, the groundbreaking and site dedication took place, led by Rex D. Pinegar. This marked the beginning of a significant chapter in the area’s history.

After nearly a year of construction, the Reno Nevada Temple opened its doors for a public open house from April 8th to April 15th, 2000. This event allowed the public to explore the interior before the formal dedication led by Prophet Thomas S. Monson.

Set on 7.9 acres, the Reno Nevada Temple covers an impressive 10,700 square feet. The exterior is adorned with gray granite that was expertly quarried near Sharon, Vermont.
