The journey began on April 12, 1999, when the Reno Nevada Temple was announced. Following this announcement, the groundbreaking and site dedication took place on July 24, 1999, led by Rex D. Pinegar. The anticipation culminated in a public open house that ran from April 8th to April 15th, 2000.

Dedication and Design

The Temple was formally dedicated by Prophet Thomas S. Monson. Covering an area of 7.9 acres, the Reno Nevada Temple features an exterior finish of gray granite, which was quarried near Sharon, Vermont. Architecture fans will appreciate the distinctive design, showcasing a single attached end spire topped with a gold-leafed painted Angel Moroni Statue.

Interior Features

Inside, the Temple is thoughtfully designed to include two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and one baptistry. The total area of this beautiful space is 10,700 square feet.
