- Base Isolation System: Nearly 100 high-tech base isolators now sit beneath the foundation, allowing the entire temple to sway safely up to five feet in any direction during an earthquake—safeguarding this historic monument with smart engineering.
- Vertical Coring: Deep within the granite walls, 46 sturdy holes (about 150 feet deep) have been drilled for post-tensioning cables, anchoring the spires securely to a reinforced foundation—ensuring durability for generations.
- Foundation Reinforcement: Using innovative “jack and bore” techniques, reinforced steel tubes filled with concrete have been inserted under the existing footings, giving the base unmatched strength.
