The temple’s doors officially opened to the public during an open house from August 19 to August 26, 2000. During this week, a remarkable 21,134 visitors toured the temple, gaining insight into its beauty and purpose. The dedication of the temple was a significant event for the local members and was conducted by President Gordon B. Hinckley on September 3, 2000, officially consecrating the building for sacred ordinances.

Built on a spacious 5.6-acre lot at 1927 Mount Olive Blvd, the Birmingham Alabama Temple’s exterior is a stunning display of craftsmanship. Its walls are finished with imperial Danby white marble, quarried from Vermont, giving the temple an elegant and timeless appearance. The design features a single attached spire crowned with a golden-leafed Angel Moroni statue, symbolizing the temple’s devotion to faith.
Inside, the temple encompasses 10,700 square feet and includes two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry—facilities that serve the spiritual needs of its patrons. The temple is situated at an elevation of 661 feet, offering a serene and scenic environment.
