Exciting News: The Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple is on Its Way!
The anticipation is building in Provo, Utah, as we eagerly await the arrival of the magnificent Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple! Announced by Prophet Russell M. Nelson on October 3, 2021, this inspiring structure is set to redefine the spiritual landscape of our community.
A Grand Vision Takes Shape
Nestled on an expansive 17-acre site—larger than the previous temple’s 15-acre footprint—the new temple will stand proudly at 2200 Temple Hill Dr, Provo, UT 84604. This beautiful location boasts breathtaking views at an elevation of approximately 4,876 feet above sea level, perfect for a place of worship and reflection.
Architectural Marvel
Prepare to be awed by the details of the Rock Canyon Temple! With its stunning granite exterior and a striking single attached central spire, this temple is designed to stand as a beacon of hope and inspiration in the valley. Unlike the former structure, it won’t feature a gold-leafed Angel Moroni—an interesting twist that has many curious about its new aesthetic!
The temple will be substantial in size, covering an impressive 163,000 square feet. Looming at a height of 265 feet 6 inches, it’s sure to be one of the most iconic structures in Utah.
Enhanced Access and Community Connection
One notable feature of the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple is its parking setup. It will not share a parking lot with a meeting house, but fear not! There’s a convenient parking area located across the street, making access easy for visitors and congregants alike.
From Concept to Reality
The excitement ramped up on November 24, 2021, when the temple rendering was released to the public. Construction officially kicked off on February 24, 2024, with an expected completion by late 2027. The skyline is about to change, and we can hardly wait!
As the 6th temple in a state where about 16.8 million members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reside and 500 congregations flourish, the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple promises to enhance the spiritual atmosphere of Utah County.
