Nestled among the picturesque foothills of Bountiful, Utah, the Bountiful Utah Temple stands as the 47th dedicated Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A Historical Overview
The journey to the completion of the Bountiful Utah Temple began on February 2, 1990, when it was announced to the public. This beautiful site was dedicated on May 2, 1992, by the Prophet Ezra Taft Benson. At that awe-inspiring event, 7,500 individuals attended in person, with an additional 2,500 joining remotely, showcasing the dedication and enthusiasm surrounding this remarkable initiative.
After years of anticipation, the public open house was held from November 4 to December 17, 1994. During this period, an astonishing 870,361 guests toured the Temple, thanks in large part to the efforts of around 45,000 volunteers who facilitated the event. The formal dedication of the Bountiful Utah Temple took place from January 8 to January 14, 1995, led by Prophet Howard W. Hunter. Remarkably, this event comprised 28 dedicatory sessions, with 201,655 attendees celebrating this milestone.
Architectural Features
Occupying an impressive 9 acres, the Bountiful Utah Temple boasts a two-story parking garage, easily accessible from the west side of the grounds. The exterior is elegantly finished in Bethel white granite, enhancing its visual appeal. A distinctive feature of the Temple is its central spire, adorned with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, symbolizing the faith’s teachings.
Spanning 104,000 square feet, this Temple is among the larger edifices in the region, reaching a height of 176 feet.
