A Brief History
The journey began on October 3, 2009, when it was announced by Prophet Thomas S. Monson during the 179th Semiannual General Conference. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on July 31, 2010, led by Apostle Boyd K. Packer. Following years of planning and construction, the public open house was held from August 15 to September 15, 2012. Finally, the Temple was dedicated on September 23, 2012, again presided over by Boyd K. Packer.
Key Features
Occupying an impressive 3.14 acres, the Brigham City Utah Temple was thoughtfully designed with attention to detail. The exterior is finished with precast concrete limestone, giving it a distinguished look that blends harmoniously with the surrounding landscape. The height of the Temple reaches 165 feet and it sits at an elevation of 4,454 feet, emphasizing its prominent presence in the area.
One of the standout features is the two attached end spires, which are crowned with a stunning gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue. The installation of this statue was completed in just 50 minutes, a moment witnessed by approximately 5,000 onlookers.
Inside, the Temple boasts two instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and one baptistry, all meticulously designed for various ceremonies and practices. With a total area of 36,000 square feet, it offers ample space for its intended purposes.
Accessibility and Parking
The Brigham City Utah Temple emphasizes convenience with its parking arrangements. There are 123 surface stalls, 29 street stalls, and 130 underground stalls accessible by driving on the west side of the Temple. A two-story garage, located underground, ensures that guests can enjoy easy access without congestion.
Interestingly, there is no meetinghouse located in the same parking lot, making it a unique site for its specific functions. Its location across from the Box Elder Tabernacle further enhances its significance in the area.
