The Journey to Completion
The journey for the Gilbert Arizona Temple began with its announcement on April 26, 2008, during a General Conference by the Prophet. The groundbreaking and site dedication took place on November 13, 2010, conducted by Elder Claudio R.M. Costa.
The public Open House ran from January 18 through February 15, 2014, attracting an impressive 407,020 attendees. Following this, the dedication took place on March 2, 2014, by the Prophet Thomas S. Monson, with Henry B. Eyring reading the dedicatory prayer.
Architectural Features
The Gilbert Arizona Temple encompasses 85,326 square feet and is five levels tall, reaching a height of 195 feet and sitting at an elevation of 1,269 feet. Built on 15.38 acres, this architectural masterpiece features precast concrete panels on its exterior, complemented by a single attached end spire crowned with a Gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue, which was installed on May 15, 2012.
