The journey to the Gilbert Arizona Temple began with its announcement on April 26, 2008, during a General Conference, proclaimed by the Prophet. This moment sparked excitement and anticipation among many, eventually leading to the groundbreaking and site dedication on November 13, 2010. Elder Claudio R.M. Costa presided over this notable event.
The public open house ran from January 18 through February 15, 2014, attracting an impressive attendance of 407,020 individuals eager to explore the interiors. The dedication took place shortly after, on March 2, 2014, performed by Prophet Thomas S. Monson, with Henry B. Eyring reading the dedicatory prayer.
