Overview of the Heber Valley Utah Temple
Announced on October 3, 2021, the journey to bring this Temple to life took a vital step forward when the construction injunction was lifted, allowing work to begin in earnest. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on October 8, 2022, officiated by the Prophet Russell M. Nelson, further solidifying the vision shared at the October 2021 General Conference.
Once completed, this Temple will be positioned on an 18.17-acre lot in the heart of Heber Valley, an area known for its stunning natural beauty. Situated over 40 miles from Salt Lake City, the valley features picturesque views of the surrounding mountains, making it an ideal location for this spiritual haven.
Architectural Features
The Heber Valley Utah Temple will boast unique architectural elements, including two attached end towers, setting it apart from other Temples. Notably, the design will not feature a Gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue, which has become a common element in many other locations.
Inside, the Temple will include four instructional rooms, four sealing rooms, and a single baptistry, providing numerous spaces for various activities and events. With a total area of 87,626 square feet, it qualifies as a large temple within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, being one of the few exceeding 80,000 square feet.
Details and Significance
Standing tall at 210 feet and sitting at an elevation of 6,711 feet, the Heber Valley Utah Temple will not only be a significant spiritual center but also a visible presence against the breathtaking backdrop of the Wasatch mountains. This will be the 28th Temple in Utah, further enhancing the state’s rich spiritual heritage.
On September 19, 2022, a rendering of the Temple was unveiled to the public, giving the community and prospective guests a glimpse of what to expect once construction is completed.
