The journey of the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple began on March 3, 1937, when it was first announced. This unveiling sparked excitement and anticipation in the area. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on December 19, 1938, led by Elder David Smith. Two years later, on October 19, 1940, Prophet David O. McKay dedicated the site, marking a significant chapter in the area’s religious heritage.
The Temple underwent substantial renovations recently, with the most recent public open house occurring from April 22 to May 20, 2017. It was rededicated by Apostle Henry B. Eyring on June 4, 2017, after two years of extensive renovations. Enhancements included an additional exit for the bridal room and a spacious waiting area for weddings, along with numerous upgrades to electrical systems.
