The Ephraim Utah Temple: A Spiritual Addition to Central Utah

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has officially announced exciting developments regarding the Ephraim Utah Temple. From its announcement to its anticipated dedication, this sacred building represents a significant spiritual investment in central Utah.

The Journey to Completion

The initial announcement of the Ephraim Utah Temple came on May 1, 2021, signaling the Church’s commitment to expanding its presence in the region. The momentum continued when Prophet Russell M. Nelson presided over the groundbreaking and site dedication on August 27, 2022, marking a pivotal moment in the Temple’s construction timeline.

Location and Specifications

The Ephraim Utah Temple will be located at 400 East 200 North, Ephraim, Utah 84627—a location that positions this sacred space within the heart of Sanpete County.

The Temple’s architecture and design reflect careful planning and sacred purpose:

  • Total Square Footage: 39,000 square feet of dedicated space
  • Elevation: Situated at 5,567 feet above sea level
  • Four Instruction Rooms: Each capable of seating 30 people
  • Three Sealing Rooms: Designated for eternal covenant ceremonies
  • One Baptistry: For proxy baptism ordinances

A Closer Look at the Design

The architectural rendering was released to the public on March 4, 2022, allowing members and the general public to envision the Temple’s appearance. The thoughtful design incorporates multiple functional spaces to accommodate the spiritual ordinances performed within its walls.

Upcoming Events

Members and invited guests can anticipate two significant dates in August and September 2026:

  • Media Day: Monday, August 31, 2026
  • Private Tours: Tuesday, September 1, 2026, for invited guests

These events will provide an opportunity for media representatives and selected individuals to experience the completed Temple before its formal dedication.

The Ephraim Utah Temple stands as a testament to the Church’s continued growth and its commitment to bringing temples closer to the members they serve across the Intermountain West.
