A Continuation of Sacred History
This announcement carries profound significance for Latter-day Saints. Missouri holds a cherished place in Church history—a place where early saints labored to build Zion and establish their faith. Today, that legacy continues as more than 84,000 devoted members worship across nearly 180 congregations throughout the state. The Springfield Missouri Temple will become the third sacred house of the Lord in Missouri, joining the beloved Kansas City and St. Louis temples.
A Beacon of Spiritual Refuge
When President Nelson announced this temple in April 2023, he shared an inspiring message that still resonates: “Whatever questions or problems you have, the answer is always found in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.”
Unlike Sunday chapels, a temple is something far more sacred—a “house of the Lord” where families can be eternally sealed, where peace and spiritual clarity flourish, and where members draw closer to Christ’s teachings.
