LDS Temple News Presents the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple
The roots of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Oregon date back to 1887, when early settlers began to establish a presence in the region. Today, Oregon is home to over 154,000 members within nearly 300 congregations. The Willamette Valley Oregon Temple will serve as the third house of the Lord in the state, joining already operating temples in Medford and Portland.
Groundbreaking Ceremony
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on October 29, 2022, presided over by Elder Valeri V. Cordón. This ceremony marked an essential milestone in the construction of the Temple, which is located at 3701 Corporate Way, Springfield, Oregon, and spans 10.5 acres.
Architectural Features
The Willamette Valley Oregon Temple showcases distinctive architectural elements, including a single attached central spire that rises to a height of 120 feet. The building encompasses a total area of 30,000 square feet and features two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry.
Floral Design
Floral adornments throughout the Temple incorporate Dogwood and Laurel flowers, adding to the beauty and serenity of the space.
Upcoming Events
In anticipation of its opening, a media day is scheduled for April 20, 2026. This will be followed by tours for invited guests on April 21 and 22. The public open house will run from April 23 to May 9, 2026, excluding Sundays.
Dedication
The Willamette Valley Oregon Temple will be dedicated by Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with a rebroadcast planned for 2:00 p.m.

President Nelson emphasizes the importance of Temples, stating, “Temples are a vital part of the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ in its fulness. Ordinances of the temple fill our lives with power and strength available in no other way.
