The Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple is set to open its doors for an open house from June 13 through June 27, 2026. This exciting announcement has generated anticipation among many. Located at Rua Professor Jose Vieira de Mendonça, 1485, Engenho Nogueira, Belo Horizonte–MG, this sacred space is positioned to enrich the local area.
The announcement of the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple was made by Prophet Russell M. Nelson during the 191st Annual General Conference on April 4, 2021. Since then, excitement has been building within the region.
Groundbreaking and site dedication occurred on June 17, 2023, officiated by Elder Juan A. Uceda with an audience of 500 attendees. In his remarks, Elder Uceda expressed fervent hopes for the new space, saying, “I ask Thee, dear Father, that this place and all who live within the boundaries of the temple district enjoy special protection. And may the light of the gospel shine throughout this region.” His words underscore the spiritual significance that this location holds for many.
The Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple is expected to be dedicated on August 16, 2026. With a total area of 11.8 acres, it spans 27,000 square feet. Nestled at an elevation of 2,740 feet, the architectural features include a unique pyramid roof crowned with a single attached central tower. Notably, there is no gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue atop this Temple, a distinct feature among its counterparts.
Inside the Temple, there are two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and one baptistry. This design serves to facilitate various spiritual practices that members of the faith cherish.
While the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple is the twelfth of its kind built in Brazil, it holds a special distinction as the first one in Minas Gerais. Prior to its construction, the membership in Brazil had surpassed 1.4 million, with around 2,100 congregations actively growing.
The rendering of the Temple was released to the public on September 23, 2021, allowing the community to get a glimpse of what is to come. With its construction, the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple aims to inspire and uplift.
