Discovering the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple

The Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple is set to open its doors for an open house from June 13 to June 27, 2026. This event promises to offer insight into the beautiful design and dedicated purpose of the new space.

Located at Rua Professor Jose Vieira de Mendonça, 1485 Engenho Nogueira, Belo Horizonte–MG, this Temple was announced by President Russell M. Nelson during the 191st Annual General Conference on April 4, 2021. The momentous occasion marked the beginning of a new chapter for many in the region.

On June 17, 2023, the site was dedicated, and the groundbreaking ceremony was conducted by Elder Juan A. Uceda, with an impressive attendance of about 500 individuals. During the ceremony, Elder Uceda expressed heartfelt prayers for those in the area, stating, “I ask Thee, dear Father, that this place and all who live within the boundaries of the temple district enjoy special protection… May Thy spiritual power be strongly felt in this region.”

The anticipated dedication of the Temple will take place on August 16, 2026, making it a highly awaited event for the local populace. Covering 11.8 acres, the Temple is designed with architectural elements that captivate the eye, including a single attached central tower with a pyramid roof, although it does not feature the gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue.

Inside, the Temple will house two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and one baptistry, all within its spacious layout of 27,000 square feet. Situated at an elevation of 2,740 feet, it offers a unique perspective of the surrounding landscape.

The rendering of the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple was shared with the public on September 23, 2021, showcasing its elegant design and inviting atmosphere. It’s worth noting that it is not the first Temple in Brazil; several others existed prior, including the Belém, Brasília, Campinas, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, São Paulo Brazil East, and Salvador Temples.

With a dynamic membership exceeding 1.4 million and over 2,100 congregations across Brazil, the region is experiencing significant growth. The Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple will be the 12th Temple built in Brazil and notably the first in the state of Minas Gerais.

As the opening dates near, anticipation and excitement grow for what promises to be a remarkable addition to the spiritual fabric of the area. The Temple stands as a testament to the ongoing expansion and commitment to serve in Brazil, enriching the lives of many in the region.
