The Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple is set to become a significant addition to the spiritual landscape of Brazil, located at Rua Professor Jose Vieira de Mendonça, 1485 in Engenho Nogueira, Belo Horizonte-MG. This anticipated site will open its doors for an open house from June 13 to June 27, 2026, giving many an opportunity to experience its beauty and mission first-hand.

The announcement for this Temple was made on April 4, 2021, by Prophet Russell M. Nelson during the 191st Annual General Conference. The subsequent groundbreaking and site dedication took place on June 17, 2023, with Elder Juan A. Uceda leading the ceremony. Over 500 guests attended this momentous occasion, marking a milestone in the Temple’s journey. Elder Uceda expressed hopes for the area, praying for protection and the light of the gospel to illuminate the region. He emphasized his desire for no hindrances in the construction of the Temple.

Scheduled for dedication on August 16, 2026, the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple spans an impressive 11.8 acres and encompasses 27,000 square feet. The architectural design features a single attached central tower topped with a pyramid roof. Notably, this Temple will not include the gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue typically seen in other Temples.

Inside, the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple will have two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and one baptistry, providing essential spaces for its sacred functions. Its elevation of 2,740 feet adds to its significance in the region.

Released to the public on September 23, 2021, the rendering of the Temple has ignited excitement and anticipation. While this will be the first Temple built in Minas Gerais, it is the twelfth in Brazil, following others such as the Belém, Brasília, and Rio de Janeiro Temples.

Before the construction of the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple, Brazil saw over 1.4 million members and 2,100 congregations, indicating a growing spiritual landscape. The establishment of this Temple reflects the increasing presence and influence of faith in the country.
