Set to become a significant destination in Belo Horizonte, the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple represents a milestone for many. Located at Rua Professor Jose Vieira de Mendonça, 1485 in Engenho Nogueira, this site is poised to serve those in Minas Gerais and beyond.

Announced on April 4, 2021, by the Prophet Russell M. Nelson during the 191st Annual General Conference, the journey to this Temple began as a vision to enhance the spiritual landscape in Brazil. The groundbreaking, held on June 17, 2023, was a momentous occasion attended by 500 guests, including Elder Juan A. Uceda, who dedicated the site with heartfelt prayers. He emphasized the importance of this sacred place: “I ask Thee, dear Father, that this place and all who live within the boundaries of the temple district enjoy special protection. And may the light of the gospel shine throughout this region.”

The Temple is slated for dedication on August 16, 2026, following an open house from June 13 to June 27, 2026. Measuring 27,000 square feet and situated at an elevation of 2,740 feet, it stands on 11.8 acres of land, making it a notable addition to the area.

Architecturally, the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple features a singular attached central tower topped with a pyramid roof. Unlike many other Temples, it does not include a gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue, offering a unique design that reflects local culture and aesthetics. Inside, you’ll find two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all designed to facilitate various spiritual activities.

Though it is not the first Temple in Brazil, it is particularly significant as the 12th Temple built in the country and the first in Minas Gerais. Prior to its construction, over 1.4 million members belonging to 2,100 congregations in Brazil showcased the growth of the church, making the need for this new Temple even more essential.

A rendering of the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple was released to the public on September 23, 2021, providing a glimpse of what is to come. As anticipation builds, many look forward to the spiritual experiences and blessings this Temple will bring to the region.
