Excitement is building for the new Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple, a significant addition to the spiritual landscape in Brazil. The open house is scheduled from June 13, 2026, through June 27, 2026, allowing many to experience its unique features and sacred ambiance before its dedication.
The location of the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple is Rua Professor Jose Vieira de Mendonça, 1485 Engenho Nogueira in Belo Horizonte, MG. This beautifully situated site spans an impressive 11.8 acres and boasts a total area of 27,000 square feet, providing ample space for its essential elements. Built at an elevation of 2,740 feet, the Temple offers stunning views and an inviting environment.
The announcement for the Temple came from Prophet Russell M. Nelson on April 4, 2021, during the 191st Annual General Conference, marking a moment of anticipation for many within the region. Following this announcement, the groundbreaking and site dedication took place on June 17, 2023, led by Elder Juan A. Uceda, attracting around 500 guests. During this ceremonial event, Elder Uceda expressed hopes for the region, asking for divine protection and the light of the gospel to radiate throughout.
Architecturally, the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple features a single attached central tower with a pyramid roof, showcasing a modern design. Notably, this Temple will not feature a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, making it distinct from several others. Inside, it will include two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, designed to accommodate various sacred functions.
Originally, before the construction of the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple, Brazil boasted over 1.4 million members within 2,100 congregations. The Church has been experiencing growth throughout the country, and this Temple stands as the 12th in Brazil, being the first in Minas Gerais. Previous Temples in Brazil include those in Belém, Brasília, Campinas, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Salvador.
As the dedication date approaches on August 16, 2026, the anticipation continues to grow for what this addition will bring to the region. For many, the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple will be a cherished landmark in their spiritual journeys, reinforcing connections and fostering growth within the area. The architecture, location, and history of this Temple reflect a deep commitment to faith and community, promising to become a meaningful part of many lives.
