The groundbreaking ceremony for the Cleveland Ohio Temple took place on June 1, 2024, officiated by Elder Vaiangina Sikahema. This event marked the beginning of a new chapter for the faith in the region. The official dedication of the House of the Lord is set for August 16, 2026, with Apostle David A. Bednar presiding over the occasion.
To give individuals an insight into the House of the Lord, an Open House will be held from June 18 to July 3, 2026, excluding Sundays. This initiative offers a chance to appreciate the beauty and significance of this new addition to Independence, Ohio.
Architectural Features
The Cleveland Ohio Temple will be constructed on a 12.5-acre plot, allowing for ample grounds surrounding the House of the Lord. This location will feature a large design with a total area of 9,900 square feet.
The exterior of the House of the Lord will be elegantly finished in granite, contributing to a timeless aesthetic. Notably, the design includes a single attached central spire, albeit without a gold-leafed representation of the Angel Moroni.

On July 25, 2023, a rendering of the Cleveland Ohio Temple was unveiled to the public, showcasing its architectural beauty and purpose. This visual representation gives residents a glimpse of what to expect in the near future.

The House of the Lord will be situated at 5997 Brecksville Road, Independence, Ohio 44131. This location has been officially designated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since its announcement on April 3, 2022, during the 194th General Conference.
As the second Temple in Ohio, the Cleveland Ohio Temple will serve a growing membership base, which at the time of the announcement included over 63,000 members and 125 congregations throughout the state.
