The construction phase has seen several important milestones. Initially, a dewatering process was completed, involving the drilling of 20 wells to efficiently manage water. This water was then pumped into large tanks and moved to Lake Creek, located just south of the house of the Lord. Notably, this dewatering process did not impact the environment adversely.

In addition, the construction injunction was lifted, marking a pivotal point in the timeline of this project. The groundbreaking and dedication took place on October 8, 2022, officiated by Prophet Russell M. Nelson. This event was announced during the October 2021 General Conference.

Architectural Features

The architectural design of the Heber Valley Utah Temple incorporates several unique elements. The design includes two attached end towers but notably does not include a Gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue. With a total square footage of 87,626, this house of the Lord is classified as a large temple, as it exceeds 80,000 square feet.

Inside, there will be four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and a single baptistry, designed to meet the needs of those seeking spiritual guidance and blessings.

Location and Accessibility

This house of the Lord is located at 1400 E Center St, Heber City, Utah, 84032, within the picturesque Heber Valley. This rural mountain valley is situated in Wasatch County, just over 40 miles from Salt Lake City. The elevation of the Heber Valley Utah Temple will be 6,711 feet, and it will reach a height of 210 feet upon completion.

Future Importance

Once completed, the Heber Valley Utah Temple will be the 28th temple in Utah and the first in Wasatch County. It holds a significant place in the history of temple construction in the state. Interestingly, it was the last temple to be announced in Utah before President Nelson’s year without any new announcements in April or October of 2022.

The Heber Valley Utah Temple is set to become a pivotal location for many, offering a serene environment for personal reflection and connection. As the community eagerly anticipates its completion, the temple’s development signifies a commitment to enrichment and spiritual growth in this beautiful region.
