Heber Valley Utah Temple: Exciting Developments Unfold

Exciting progress is underway for the Heber Valley Utah Temple, located at 1400 E Center St, Heber City, Utah 84032. Announced on October 3, 2021, this upcoming addition to the landscape has captured the attention of many. With a groundbreaking and site dedication conducted by Prophet Russell M. Nelson on October 8, 2022, kicking off the journey, there have been significant updates as construction continues.

Currently, the dewatering process is commencing. This involves drilling 20 wells from which water will be pumped into large tanks and subsequently transported to Lake Creek, located just south of the site. Importantly, this dewatering will have no environmental impact on the surrounding area, ensuring a smooth transition as work progresses.

The construction injunction has been lifted, and the Heber Valley Utah Temple is set to be an expansive site, covering 18.17 acres. With a total area of 87,626 square feet, it qualifies as a large temple—defined as any facility of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that exceeds 80,000 square feet. At a striking height of 210 feet and situated at an elevation of 6,711 feet, the Heber Valley Utah Temple promises to be a notable presence in Wasatch County.

Architecturally, the design features two attached end towers, forgoing the traditional gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue. Inside, it will include four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and a single baptistry, catering to a variety of significant ceremonies.

This temple will be the 28th of its kind in Utah, adding to the rich tapestry of the state’s heritage. Heber Valley itself is known for its picturesque landscapes, nestled in a beautiful rural mountain valley. At just a little over 40 miles from Salt Lake City, it’s a location that offers stunning views and a tranquil atmosphere.

The anticipation surrounding the Heber Valley Utah Temple is palpable, especially following the public unveiling of its rendering on September 19, 2022. As construction progresses, this facility is set to become an integral part of the region, reflecting a commitment to both architectural beauty and community values.
