LDS Temple News Presents Montpelier Idaho Temple: A New Chapter for Idaho

The Montpelier Idaho Temple, located at Washington St, Montpelier, ID 83254, represents a significant addition to the spiritual landscape of Idaho. Announced by President Russell M. Nelson on April 3, 2022, this Temple reflects a commitment to the growth and faith of its members.

The groundbreaking and site dedication took place on June 17, 2023, conducted by Elder Ryan K. Olsen. During this momentous occasion, he expressed a hope for understanding and peace among everyone present, emphasizing confidence in a higher plan.

Covering 2.6 acres, the Montpelier Idaho Temple boasts an impressive 27,000 square feet. Its architectural design features a single attached central tower, notably without a gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue. Inside, it includes two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry.

An exciting public open house is scheduled from September 10th to September 26th, 2026, offering an opportunity for the community to explore this new addition. The official dedication will follow on October 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM, with a rebroadcast at 2:00 PM, marking a historic moment for the area.

The rendering of the Montpelier Idaho Temple was released on April 24, 2023, showcasing its elegant design and highlighting its importance within the state. It will stand as the 8th Temple in Idaho, joining others such as the Twin Falls Idaho Temple, Boise Idaho Temple, Burley Idaho Temple, Idaho Falls Idaho Temple, Meridian Idaho Temple, Pocatello Idaho Temple, Rexburg Idaho Temple, and Teton River Idaho Temple.

The history of the Church in Idaho dates back to 1855, with early pioneers laying the groundwork for faith in the region. The state has been home to several Church presidents, including Presidents Harold B. Lee, Ezra Taft Benson, and Howard W. Hunter, further establishing its significance in the broader Church narrative.

As Montpelier welcomes this new Temple, it stands as a testament to the enduring faith and commitment of its members and the rich heritage of the state.
