LDS Temple News Presents Star Valley Wyoming Temple
The Star Valley Wyoming Temple is the 154th Temple in operation, nestled in the heart of Afton, Wyoming. This remarkable site not only serves as a place for sacred activities but also stands as a testament to the faith and dedication of many individuals involved in its creation.
The Journey to Completion
The journey of the Star Valley Wyoming Temple began on October 1, 2011, when it was announced during General Conference by the Prophet Thomas S. Monson. Following years of anticipation, the groundbreaking ceremony took place on April 25, 2015, officiated by Craig C. Christensen, marking the beginning of physical construction.
In an effort to share this beautiful space with the public, a grand open house was held from September 23 through October 8, 2016. During this period, a total of 78,000 people toured the building, experiencing its beauty and significance firsthand.
Dedication Day
The Temple was officially dedicated on October 30, 2016, by Apostle David A. Bednar. In his dedicatory prayer, he conveyed profound love and commitment, expressing the deep desires for righteousness and the yearning to return to the divine with families sealed together for eternity.

Design and Dimensions
Occupying 43.6 acres, the Star Valley Wyoming Temple features an exterior finish of precast concrete panels. The Temple is architecturally striking, highlighted by a single attached end spire adorned with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue, which was placed atop the building on April 25, 2016.
This impressive facility spans 18,609 square feet and reaches a height of 123 feet while sitting at an elevation of 6,218 feet. It includes one instruction room, a sealing room, and a baptistry, all designed to facilitate a variety of sacred ceremonies.

One standout feature of the Temple is its stained glass in the foyer, which depicts Jesus Christ. This exquisite piece of art has an interesting history, having originally come from a Presbyterian Church in New York City.
