The journey of the Smithfield Utah Temple began on April 4, 2021, when it was announced by Prophet Russell M. Nelson during the 191st General Conference, alongside 19 other Temples. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of a vision for the community and its spiritual aspirations.
The groundbreaking and site dedication took place on June 18, 2022, led by Apostle Quentin L. Cook. His heartfelt remarks captured the essence of the region: “I have seen much of the world, but this peaceful valley surrounded by these majestic mountains always feels like home to me. It is among the most beautiful places on earth.” He was joined by Apostle Gary E. Stevenson and other general leaders, celebrating this new chapter in the community’s history.

The Smithfield Utah Temple spans 13.3 acres and has a total area of 81,000 square feet, making it a substantial space designed for various Temple work. The Temple features an arched, colonnaded design complemented by tall domed cupolas, creating an inviting appearance.
Inside, the layout includes four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and notably, two baptistries. This arrangement enhances the Temple’s capacity to support diverse spiritual activities and gatherings, ensuring that individuals can engage meaningfully in their personal journeys.
