A Journey Through Time
The announcement of the Brigham City Utah Temple took place on October 3, 2009, during the 179th Semiannual General Conference, where Prophet Thomas S. Monson unveiled his vision for this remarkable addition to the landscape of Utah. Groundbreaking occurred on July 31, 2010, with site dedication led by Apostle Boyd K. Packer.
After years of anticipation, a public open house was held from August 15th through September 15th, 2012, allowing many to explore the beautiful interiors before the official dedication. On September 23, 2012, the Temple was dedicated, again by Apostle Boyd K. Packer, solidifying its role in the local and broader cultural narrative.
Architectural Features
Spanning 3.14 acres, this beautiful construction showcases a stunning design characterized by precast concrete limestone on the exterior finish. The Temple stands at a height of 165 feet and covers an impressive 36,000 square feet. Notably, there are two end spires topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, which was installed in a swift 50 minutes, witnessed by over 5,000 members of the public.
Inside, the Temple houses essential facilities, including two instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and a baptistry. This layout is designed to accommodate various activities, enriching the experience for those who utilize its sacred spaces.
Access and Amenities
For those driving to the Temple, ample parking is available, including 123 surface stalls, 29 street stalls, and 130 underground stalls, accessible from the west side. Interestingly, there is no meetinghouse located in the same parking lot, ensuring that the Temple maintains its unique presence.
Originally, the grounds where the Temple now stands were home to an old school that has since been demolished, allowing for this beautiful addition to the community that is now located directly across from the Box Elder Tabernacle.
