A Journey from Announcement to Dedication
The history of the Denver Colorado Temple began on March 31, 1982, when the idea was announced. The groundbreaking and site dedication took place on May 19, 1984, under the leadership of Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley. This marked the beginning of an important chapter for many in the area, with local members gathering resources for the project long before its construction.
The Temple opened to the public from September 8 to 27 in 1986. This event attracted an impressive turnout of 140,000 people, eager to tour the new space and learn about its significance. Following this, the Temple was formally dedicated by Prophet Ezra Taft Benson from October 24 to 28, 1986. The occasion drew over 28,000 individuals, highlighting the profound interest and commitment of the local members.
