LDS Temple News Presents Fort Worth Texas Temple a House of the Lord
The Fort Worth Texas Temple recently reached a significant milestone with its groundbreaking ceremony held on Saturday, October 28, 2023. Presided over by Elder Jose L. Alonso, a General Authority Seventy and First Counselor in the North America Southwest Area Presidency, the event highlighted the temple’s importance to the community. In his dedicatory prayer, Elder Alonso expressed gratitude for the teachings of Jesus Christ, emphasizing the hope and purpose His mission provides, as well as the comfort and strength found through His atonement.
The architectural design of the Fort Worth Texas Temple is set to be striking, featuring a central spire that enhances its graceful silhouette. The public first glimpsed the temple’s exterior rendering on October 31, 2022, revealing its inviting charm. The temple will be constructed on a 9.37-acre site located just north of SW Hulen Street and Greenridge Drive in Burleson. Plans indicate that the single-story temple will encompass approximately 30,000 square feet—an ample space intended to accommodate many worshippers.
The announcement regarding the construction of the Fort Worth Texas Temple was made by President Russell M. Nelson during the October 2021 General Conference, marking it as the sixth temple established in Texas, which is home to over 360,000 Latter-day Saints. This temple is situated in Fort Worth, located northwest of Dallas in north central Texas and will be positioned at an elevation of 768 feet, contributing to the stunning natural landscape of the area.
For comparison, the nearby Fort Collins Colorado Temple includes two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, providing insight into the functionality that future visitors can expect from the Fort Worth Texas Temple. With its planned features and welcoming design, the Fort Worth Texas Temple will serve as a vital spiritual resource for the local community and beyond.
