The journey of the Fresno California Temple began with an important announcement made on January 8, 1999. At that time, the First Presidency, which included Presidents Gordon B. Hinckley, Thomas S. Monson, and James E. Faust, informed priesthood leaders in California about the new Temple. Groundbreaking and site dedication occurred shortly thereafter on March 20, 1999, led by John B. Dickson.

- Public Open House: From March 25 to April 4, 2000, the Temple opened its doors to the public, attracting an impressive attendance of 51,000 individuals.
- Dedication: The Temple was dedicated on April 9, 2000, by Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, who stated, “You will find peace and happiness here.”

Exterior Design
The exterior finish is crafted from White Sierra granite, locally quarried in Raymond, California. One of its most striking features is a single attached end spire topped with a Gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue. The geometric grid pattern of the exterior art glass consists of rectangular windows adorned with small, concentric circular accents. These iconic windows are presented in groups of three, maintaining a classic style that harmonizes with the granite facade.

- Size and Structure: Covering 10,850 square feet, the Temple is a single-story building with a height of 71 feet, sitting at an elevation of 319 feet.
- Rooms: Inside, there are 2 instruction rooms, 2 sealing rooms, and a baptistry designed with elegance and functionality in mind.
- Art and Lighting: The interior features exquisite light fixtures, including crystal chandeliers in the Celestial Room, ornate sconces, and flush-mount fixtures. Elegant cherry wood doors are complemented by brass and nickel hardware, creating a warm yet refined atmosphere.
