Located at 6290 N Valentine Ave, Fresno, California 93711, the Fresno California Temple covers an area of 2.34 acres and spans 10,850 square feet, rising to a height of 71 feet. Constructed using White Sierra granite quarried from Raymond, California, the Temple showcases a striking exterior adorned with a Gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue atop a single attached end spire.
A Brief History
The announcement for the Fresno California Temple came on January 8, 1999. During this time, the First Presidency, comprising Presidents Gordon B. Hinckley, Thomas S. Monson, and James E. Faust, shared the news with priesthood leaders across California. A couple of months later, on March 20, 1999, the groundbreaking ceremony took place, led by John B. Dickson.
The public open house ran from March 25, 2000, through April 4, 2000, attracting over 51,000 attendees. The Temple was officially dedicated on April 9, 2000, by President Gordon B. Hinckley, who remarked, “This is a great blessing for the people of California.”
