A Brief History
The Burley Idaho Temple was announced on April 4, 2021, by Prophet Russell M. Nelson during the 191st General Conference. At that time, Idaho was home to over 460,000 Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and approximately 1,200 congregations. The area has a rich history, with early pioneers settling in Idaho in 1855.
Groundbreaking and Dedication
The groundbreaking and site dedication took place on June 4, 2022, led by Brent H. Nielsen. During this sacred moment, he shared, “It was just a few hundred yards from here where I learned to…love and enjoy life and the wonderful abundance that the Lord has blessed all who reside in this beautiful Magic Valley.” He emphasized the anticipation of a bountiful harvest as the house of the Lord rises in this area.
The public open house occurred from November 6 to November 22, 2025, providing an opportunity for many to experience the beauty of the Temple before its dedication. The official dedication took place on January 11, 2026, by Prophet Dallin H. Oaks, marking a momentous occasion for the region.

Covering 10.12 acres, the Temple boasts an impressive exterior finish made of Bianco Sarda granite. At a height of 172 feet and sitting at an elevation of 4,188 feet, it is a striking feature in the local landscape. The Temple features a single attached end spire.
Interior Design
Spanning a total of 45,300 square feet, the interior design of the Burley Idaho Temple is both elegant and reflective of the region’s agricultural heritage. Soft gold broadloom carpets grace the general areas, while creamy white carpets enhance the celestial and sealing rooms. Decorative features combine bronze, crystal, and faux alabaster elements, creating an inviting atmosphere.
