Discovering the Burley Idaho Temple

The Burley Idaho Temple stands as the 212th dedicated Temple in operation, representing a significant milestone for the region and its people. Located at 40 S 150 E in Burley, Idaho, this remarkable place is a testament to the community’s faith and heritage.

A Historic Journey

Announced by Prophet Russell M. Nelson during the 191st General Conference on April 4, 2021, the Burley Idaho Temple comes at a time when Idaho had over 460,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and approximately 1,200 congregations. The state has a rich history, with pioneering settlers arriving in 1855.

The groundbreaking and site dedication occurred on June 4, 2022, conducted by Brent H. Nielsen. In his remarks, he emphasized the connection to the land and its blessings, stating, “When soil is turned and seeds are sown, a bountiful harvest is always expected.” His words conveyed hope for the Temple as it was established in the heart of the Magic Valley.

Architectural Features and Design

The Burley Idaho Temple occupies 10.12 acres and reaches an impressive height of 172 feet. The choice of Bianco Sarda granite for the exterior enhances its aesthetic, presenting a timeless appearance. Notably, it features a single attached end spire without a gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue.

Interior Design Elements

Spanning 45,300 square feet, the interior of the Temple incorporates rich designs and materials. Decorative light fixtures that combine bronze, crystal, and faux alabaster elements create a warm ambiance, especially in the brides’ room, celestial room, and sealing rooms. Soft gold broadloom carpets complement the creamy white carpets in the celestial and sealing rooms, while area rugs add a unique touch throughout the Temple.

Art Glass and Regional Heritage

One of the most enchanting aspects of the Temple is the art glass patterns that highlight the blossoms and leaves of the potato plant. This design choice echoes the local agricultural heritage, blending seamlessly with the overall aesthetic of the space. Quarter-sawn sapele wood is used throughout, offering a rich and elegant feel.

In addition, the intricate designs on the interior doors, featuring potato blossoms with a rubbed bronze finish, further integrate local themes into the Temple’s design.

A Space for Reflection

The Burley Idaho Temple comprises four instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and one baptistry. Together, these elements create a harmonious environment conducive to spiritual engagement and reflection.

Opening and Dedication Timeline

The public open house for the Burley Idaho Temple is scheduled from November 6, 2025, to November 22, 2025. It will culminate in a dedication ceremony on January 11, 2026, led by Prophet Dallin H. Oaks.

As the seventh Temple established in Idaho, following the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple, Boise Idaho Temple, Rexburg Idaho Temple, Twin Falls Idaho Temple, Meridian Idaho Temple, and Pocatello Idaho Temple, the Burley Idaho Temple adds to the spiritual landscape of the state.

In summary, the Burley Idaho Temple is more than just an architectural endeavor; it encapsulates a history of faith and devotion while fostering connections to the land and its rich agricultural background. The beauty of Idaho is reflected in every detail, making this Temple a notable addition to the region’s heritage.
