The journey to establishing the Burley Idaho Temple began with an announcement made by Prophet Russell M. Nelson on April 4, 2021, during the 191st General Conference. At the time, Idaho was home to over 460,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, spread across 1,200 member groups. The early pioneers settled in Idaho in 1855, and the establishment of the Temple reflects the continuation of their legacy.
Groundbreaking and Dedication
The groundbreaking and site dedication took place on June 4, 2022, led by Brent H. Nielsen. In his remarks, he spoke about the deep connections to the land, emphasizing a vision of abundance and hope: “When soil is turned and seeds are sown, a bountiful harvest is always expected.” His words resonated deeply with the locals, invoking the blessings associated with the land.
