The Indianapolis Indiana Temple serves as the 148th dedicated Temple in operation. Nestled in the scenic suburb of Carmel, Indiana, this remarkable building is situated at 11565 Temple Dr, easily accessible from U.S. 31. It proudly stands on the southwest corner of West 116th Street and Spring Mill Road, just two miles north of its interchange with I-465. The 18.11-acre site also features a beautiful meetinghouse complete with an open courtyard.

The Indianapolis Indiana Temple was publicly announced on October 2, 2010, by Prophet Thomas S. Monson. The groundbreaking took place on September 29, 2012, presided over by Elder Donald L. Hallstrom of the Presidency of the Seventy, alongside Elder Gregory A. Schwitzer from the Second Quorum of the Seventy. The public open house occurred from July 17 to August 8, 2015, drawing an impressive attendance of 90,000. Finally, the Temple was dedicated on August 23, 2015, by Apostle Henry B. Eyring.
Architectural Features
This Temple covers 34,000 square feet and reaches a height of 106.4 feet, built as a single-story design. The exterior showcases Aero Cream limestone quarried in Myra, Turkey, paired with bronze front doors featuring a thoughtful design that incorporates a circle within a square, reflective of Indianapolis’s historical street layout from 1821.

The interior art features a captivating wall mural created by Michael Albrechtsen, showcasing landscape scenes of Indiana. The Temple highlights include:
- Stained Glass Windows: With intricate Celtic knot patterns interwoven with floral elements, these windows celebrate the tulip poplar, the state tree of Indiana.
- Baptistry Mosaic: The beautiful marble mosaic for the baptistry tile hails from Iran and Pakistan.
- Sculptural Details: A unique marble bas-relief panel depicting the baptism of Jesus Christ is crafted using clay and cast in white marble powder and resin.

Miskin, who played a vital role in the Temple’s historical committee.
