Knoxville Tennessee Temple Rendering
The Knoxville Tennessee Temple, an important addition to the region, is currently under construction. The House of the Lord is located at 13001 Kingston Pike, Farragut, Tennessee 37934, situated on a plot of 4.99 acres and standing at an elevation of 989 feet.
Recent Developments
Recently, the exterior cladding of the House of the Lord has been completed, and a monument sign has been installed. This reflects the progress made as construction continues. However, the interior finish work is still underway, and the completion timeline is yet to be disclosed.
Announcement and Groundbreaking
The announcement for the Knoxville Tennessee Temple was made by Prophet Russell M. Nelson during the April 2022 General Conference. This marked a significant moment for the local members, as the House of the Lord will serve the third-largest congregation in the state. Tennessee’s first and second House of the Lord are located in Memphis and Nashville, respectively.
The groundbreaking and dedication of the property took place on January 27, 2024, overseen by Shayne M. Bowen. At that time, it became evident that the new space would be crucial for the growing congregation, which consisted of approximately 53,000 members and boasted over 100 meetinghouses in the area.
Architectural Features
The design of the Knoxville Tennessee Temple includes a single attached central tower, distinguishing it from other Houses of the Lord. Notably, it does not feature a gold leafed Angel Moroni Statue, a common element found in many other temples.
The House of the Lord will encompass roughly 30,836 square feet and is designed to include two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and one baptistry. These features aim to serve the needs of the designated congregation effectively.
Future Plans
As of now, the open house and dedication have not been announced. Once completed, the Knoxville Tennessee Temple is expected to become a central place for those affiliated with the Church in the region. This substantial addition is a testament to the church’s commitment to growth and service in Tennessee.
For further updates on the Knoxville Tennessee Temple, interested individuals should keep an eye on announcements from the Church regarding its completion and operational status.
