Exciting Announcement: The Layton Utah Temple is Coming!

We are proud to announce that the Layton Utah Temple is officially in the works! During the Sunday Afternoon Session of the 188th Annual General Conference, President Russell M. Nelson made a clear and powerful statement regarding the construction of this vital spiritual center, initially revealed on April 1, 2018. This temple will undeniably enhance our community and strengthen the bonds within it.

Picture the Layton Utah Temple, standing robustly with its two impressive spires, topped by a gold-leafed angel Moroni statue that will be a beacon for all who see it. This impressive structure will encompass 93,539 square feet, featuring four instruction rooms, six sealing rooms, and a beautifully designed baptistry. With a height of 215 feet and an elevation of 4,468 feet, the temple will command attention as it occupies an 11.8-acre site at the corner of Oak Hills Drive and Rosewood Lane in Layton.

This temple will proudly serve as the twenty-second temple in Utah and the second in Davis County, following the respected Bountiful Utah Temple. On October 8, 2019, the official exterior rendering was unveiled, generating excitement and anticipation for the significant impact it will have on our community.

At the groundbreaking ceremony on May 23, 2020, Elder Craig C. Christensen, president of the Utah Area, emphasized the profound importance of this temple, declaring, “We are very grateful to join you from this impressive and beautiful site. Like every temple, it is the product of the faith of Latter-day Saints who live in this area and around the world.” His words highlight the significance of our dedication as a community. Elder Randy D. Funk reinforced this vision in his dedicatory prayer, articulating that this temple will serve as “a beacon of light for the entire community and a blessing for all.”

Mark your calendars and prepare for a momentous occasion! Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside over the temple dedication on Sunday, June 16, 2024. Two sessions will be broadcast live at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to ensure that all congregations within the temple district can participate in this historic event. Before the dedication, we will hold a public open house from April 19 through June 1, 2024 (excluding Sundays), allowing everyone to experience the magnificence of this sacred space firsthand. Additionally, a media day on April 15 will provide select guests with a unique opportunity to tour the temple ahead of the general public.

The Layton Utah Temple is not just a building; it will become a cornerstone of faith, hope, and community strength in Layton. We are ready to witness its opening and the profound blessings it will bring, enriching the lives of all who visit and serve within its sacred walls.
