The Layton Utah Temple is Coming: A New Era Begins!

We are excited to announce a significant development that will shape our community’s future! During the Sunday Afternoon Session of the 188th Annual General Conference, President Russell M. Nelson confidently announced the construction of the Layton Utah Temple. This important milestone was revealed on April 1, 2018, and it is set to become a vital spiritual landmark in our area.

Envision the Layton Utah Temple with its two striking spires and a bold gold-leafed angel Moroni statue, which will undoubtedly capture the attention and admiration of all. Spanning an impressive 93,539 square feet, the temple will feature four instruction rooms, six sealing rooms, and a beautifully designed baptistry, all strategically crafted to facilitate profound spiritual experiences. Rising to a height of 215 feet and situated at an elevation of 4,468 feet, this temple will prominently stand on an 11.8-acre pasture at the corner of Oak Hills Drive and Rosewood Lane in Layton.

This temple will proudly serve as the twenty-second in Utah and the second in Davis County, following the notable Bountiful Utah Temple. The excitement reached new heights when the official exterior rendering was unveiled on October 8, 2019, providing a glimpse of the extraordinary beauty and significance this temple will bring to our community.

At the groundbreaking ceremony on May 23, 2020, Elder Craig C. Christensen, president of the Utah Area, articulated our collective joy: “We are very grateful to join you from this impressive and beautiful site. Like every temple, it is the product of the faith of Latter-day Saints who live in this area and around the world.” His remarks emphasize our unwavering commitment to our faith. In his dedicatory prayer, Elder Randy D. Funk affirmed that this temple will serve “as a beacon of light for the entire community and a blessing for all,” underscoring its powerful impact.

Prepare yourself for an extraordinary event! Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside over the dedication of the Layton Utah Temple on Sunday, June 16, 2024. Two sessions will be broadcast live at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., ensuring that congregations throughout the temple district will engage in this historic celebration. We will also hold a public open house from April 19 through June 1, 2024 (excluding Sundays), allowing everyone to explore this sacred space. A media day on April 15 will grant select guests an exclusive preview.

The Layton Utah Temple is not just another building; it is destined to become a cornerstone of faith, hope, and community. We assertively look forward to its opening and the profound blessings it will bring to all who visit and serve within its walls. This is a pivotal moment, one that will enrich our lives and strengthen our community for generations to come!
