Nestled at 827 Temple View Dr, Las Vegas, Nevada 89110, it is situated on the eastern edge of the city, away from the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas Strip. With its six soaring spires reminiscent of the breathtaking Sunrise Mountain, this landmark provides a serene atmosphere accentuated by flourishing flowers and trees adorning its grounds.

The journey of the Las Vegas Nevada Temple began on April 7, 1984, when it was announced to the public by Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley. Following this announcement, the groundbreaking and site dedication took place on November 30, 1985. The event was marked by an impressive turnout, with over six thousand members attending the ceremony at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The dedication of the Temple unfolded over three days from December 16 to December 18, 1989, also led by Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley.
The interest in this construction was so profound that a public open house was held from November 16 to December 9, 1989, attracting 297,480 attendees. The final day saw over 21,000 people visiting, showcasing the overwhelming enthusiasm surrounding its inauguration.
Architectural Features
The Las Vegas Nevada Temple spans an impressive 80,350 square feet and stands 137 feet tall at an elevation of 1,946 feet. The Temple consists of three levels and is built on a spacious 10.3 acres. Its exterior is defined by white precast stone walls and a copper roof, harmoniously complemented by Art Deco-inspired geometric patterns in the art glass that encases its windows.
One of the Temple’s most striking features is the angel Moroni statue, which graces its six attached spires, facing east in a symbolic gesture heralding the Second Coming of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
Interior Design
The interior of the Las Vegas Nevada Temple is equally impressionable, featuring intricate details and elegant design choices. The Celestial Room stands out with its breathtaking floor-to-ceiling windows that allow natural light to stream in, creating enchanting displays of miniature rainbows on the walls. Additionally, the room is adorned with two massive chandeliers made of thousands of pieces of cut crystal, adding a touch of grandeur to the surrounding atmosphere.
The art within the Temple includes a prominent desert-scape mural in the marriage waiting room, along with stained glass windows that enhance the exquisite decor. Brass exterior doors invite those entering, while interior light fixtures crafted by Preciosa, known for their custom chandeliers and pendant lights, illuminate the spaces within.

The Las Vegas Nevada Temple was the first of its kind in the city and the first in Clark County, as well as the state of Nevada. Following its announcement, the members of the Temple district rallied together to raise an impressive $11 million toward its construction—an extraordinary 428 percent of their initial assessment. The dedication ceremony saw the entire First Presidency and Council of the Twelve Apostles in attendance, underscoring the significance of this sacred space in their faith.
