The Lindon Utah Temple represents a significant addition to the spiritual landscape of Utah, marking a new chapter for the area. Located at 850 E Center Street, Lindon, Utah, this Temple is set on 11.87 acres, blending naturally into its beautiful surroundings.
Timeline of Events
The announcement for the Lindon Utah Temple came on October 4, 2020, by the Prophet Russell M. Nelson. Following this announcement, the groundbreaking and site dedication occurred on April 23, 2022, led by Elder Kevin W. Pearson. He remarked on the importance of this Temple, wishing for its construction to bless the area with peace, love, and unity.
The Temple’s Open House will run from March 12, 2026, through April 11, 2026, leading up to its dedication on May 3, 2026. This timeline has generated interest and excitement within the local populace.
Architectural Features
The exterior of the Lindon Utah Temple is crafted from granite, showcasing a classic aesthetic. Unique architectural features include two attached end spires that create a striking silhouette against the skyline. Notably absent is a gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue, which sets it apart from other Temples in the region.
Inside, the Temple spans a total floor area of 87,005 square feet and includes four instruction rooms, each capable of seating 50 individuals. Additionally, there are four sealing rooms and two baptistries, designed to accommodate a variety of needs.
Local Impact
The presence of the Lindon Utah Temple is expected to significantly benefit the small city of Lindon, which has a population of around 11,000 residents. Nestled just south of Pleasant Grove and north of Orem, this Temple will stand as the 25th dedicated Temple in the beautiful State of Utah and the seventh within Utah County.
Unique Design Elements
The decor throughout the Temple, including the stained glass, incorporates agrarian themes that reflect the area’s roots, prominently featuring the Linden Tree Flower. At the Northeastern corner, a special area will allow bridal parties to capture memorable photographs with the Temple in the background.
Additionally, the surrounding parking lot will be designed in a circular fashion, enclosed by elegant black ornamental fencing, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics.
Leadership
Lynn McKinlay Brätt and Elizabeth Ann Prestwich Brätt will serve as the first President and Matron of the Lindon Utah Temple, guiding its operations and supporting all who come to this revered space.
