LDS Temple News Presents Louisville Kentucky Temple

The Louisville Kentucky Temple stands as the 76th dedicated temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This significant temple was announced on March 17, 1999, with the groundbreaking and site dedication occurring shortly thereafter on May 29, 1999, led by Elder John K. Carmack of the Seventy.

The temple welcomed the public for an open house from March 4 to March 11, 2000, and was officially dedicated on March 19, 2000, by Thomas S. Monson, who was then an Apostle, while Gordon B. Hinckley served as the reigning prophet.

Occupying 3 acres, the Louisville Kentucky Temple features an impressive exterior finished with exquisite imperial Danby marble from Vermont. Architecturally, it boasts a striking single attached spire topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni, making it a remarkable sight.

Inside, the temple is designed to serve its patrons effectively, with two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and one baptistry, all within a spacious 10,700 square feet. Moreover, a meetinghouse is conveniently located in the same parking lot, further enhancing community accessibility. Perched at an elevation of 785 feet, the temple is not just a place of worship; it is a prominent and inspiring landmark in the region.
