The announcement of the Lubbock Texas Temple occurred on April 2, 2000, during a General Conference led by the Prophet. Subsequently, the groundbreaking and site dedication took place on November 4, 2000, presided over by Rex D. Pinegar, who eloquently stated, “A family gathers to see and be part of the beginning of the family home… this ‘home’ we can receive His greatest blessings.”
The public open house drew attention from March 23, 2002, through March 30, 2002, culminating in its dedication on April 21, 2002, by the Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, who highlighted the importance of these sacred edifices in his remarks.

Design and Materials
Situated on 2.7 acres, the Lubbock Texas Temple features an elegant exterior made of Empress white and majestic gray granite, both quarried in China. One of its standout elements is the single attached end spire topped with a Gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue.
Within the Temple, you will find 16,498 square feet dedicated to spiritual pursuits, encompassing 2 instruction rooms, 2 sealing rooms, and 1 baptistry.
