The groundbreaking and site dedication occurred on November 21, 2020, led by Art Rascon. This event marked a significant moment for the residents, setting in motion the construction of a beautiful facility designed to meet the spiritual needs of many.

Architectural Features and Design

Built on 10.61 acres, the McAllen Texas Temple features a single-story layout with a total floor area of 27,897 square feet. The exterior is finished with beige precast concrete panels, crafted by Gate Precast of Hillsboro, Texas. The building is characterized by a single attached central tower that reaches a height of 108 feet. The Temple itself is positioned at an elevation of 107 feet, allowing it to stand prominently in the landscape.

Interior Design Elements

Inside, visitors can find soft-gold broadloom carpet adorning the general areas and instruction rooms. The celestial and sealing rooms boast luxurious wall-to-wall wool rugs, while vibrant area rugs in blues, golds, and greens add a touch of warmth and elegance to the ambiance.

Facilities and Offerings

The McAllen Texas Temple includes two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, providing various spaces for sacred observances. Additionally, a separate meetinghouse of over 19,000 square feet will be established on the same lot, accommodating three wards, a stake suite, mission offices, and a distribution center.

Dedication and Public Open House

The public open house occurs from August 25 to September 9, 2023, giving the opportunity for individuals to explore the Temple’s spaces before the formal dedication set for October 8, 2023, officiated by Apostle Dieter F. Uchtdorf.

In a meaningful dedication ceremony, Elder Rascon prayed for the thousands of Latter-day Saints in the southern Texas region and across the border, expressing gratitude for their unwavering dedication and efforts to cultivate a spiritual environment.

A Milestone in Texas

The McAllen Texas Temple is notable as the fifth Temple constructed in the state, reflecting a growing commitment to providing places of peace and reflection for those who seek it. With its modern design and thoughtful features, the Temple stands as a testament to the faith of many individuals devoted to their beliefs.

This beautiful addition enriches the area and serves as a point of connection for those committed to their spiritual journey. The opening of the McAllen Texas Temple symbolizes a significant step forward for the community and the broader Texas region.
