The beginnings of the Medford Oregon Temple trace back to March 15, 1999, when the Prophet announced the plans to the public during the General Conference. Following this announcement, the groundbreaking and site dedication occurred on May 20, 1999, led by D. Lee Tobler.

An impressive public open house took place from March 24 to March 29, 2000, attracting 46,000 attendees, far surpassing the initial expectations of 30,000. The temple was then dedicated on April 16, 2000, by Apostle James E. Faust.

Location and Structure

Situated at 3900 Grant Rd, Central Point, Oregon 97502, the Medford Oregon Temple occupies 2 acres at an elevation of 1,272 feet. The Temple features a single story and covers 10,700 square feet, making it a comfortable size for its purposes.

Architectural Features

The exterior of the Medford Oregon Temple is finished with gray granite quarried from Mount Airy, North Carolina. Its architectural design includes a single attached end spire topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, an iconic symbol of this faith.

Inside, the Temple includes two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and one baptistry, all designed with a focus on providing a serene environment.

Community Connections

The Medford Oregon Temple holds a unique place in the area as the first Temple built in Central Point and Jackson County. It is also the second Temple constructed in Oregon, following the Portland Oregon Temple, which was dedicated in 1989.
