Announced to the public on March 15, 1999, by the Prophet during the General Conference, the Medford Oregon Temple marked the beginning of an exciting journey for the locals. The groundbreaking and site dedication were conducted by D. Lee Tobler on May 20, 1999, laying the groundwork for what would become an important space for many.
A public open house took place from March 24 to March 29, 2000. This event exceeded expectations with 46,000 attendees, which was 16,000 more than forecasted. The dedication event on April 16, 2000, was led by Apostle James E. Faust, officially opening its doors to many.
Architectural Features
Built on 2 acres of land, the Medford Oregon Temple showcases its exterior with Gray granite quarried from Mount Airy, North Carolina. It features a single attached end spire topped with a Gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue, enhancing its aesthetic appeal.
Inside the Temple
Spanning 10,700 square feet, this single-story Temple includes two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and one baptistry, designed to accommodate a variety of uses.

Situated at an elevation of 1,272 feet, the Medford Oregon Temple not only serves those within Central Point but also those from the surrounding areas. It is notable for being the first Temple built in both Central Point and Jackson County, and the second Temple established in Oregon, following the Portland Oregon Temple, which was completed in 1989.

The construction of the Temple involved local members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with both the general contractor and job superintendent being members of the faith, reinforcing the deep local ties and commitment to this significant project.
