LDS Temple News Presents Willamette Valley Oregon Temple a House of the Lord
The journey toward the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple began with an announcement by President Russell M. Nelson on April 4, 2021. Ground was broken for this impressive facility on October 29, 2022, presided over by Elder Valeri V. Cordón.
April 2026 marks the commencement of the public open house, scheduled from April 23 through May 9, allowing time for various special events leading up to the dedication. A media day was held on April 20, 2026, with invited guests touring the Temple on April 21 and 22.
Location and Design
Situated at 3701 Corporate Way in Springfield, the Temple is built on 10.5 acres and covers an area of 30,000 square feet. Standing at 120 feet tall and at an elevation of 429 feet, it features a single attached central spire that adds to its elegance.
With two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, the Temple is designed to serve the spiritual needs of its members. The floral arrangements within the Temple feature Dogwood and Laurel flowers, carefully chosen to enhance the atmosphere.
Significance in Oregon
This undertaking represents the third house of the Lord in the state, joining the existing Temples in Medford and Portland. As a vital aspect of the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple is set to fulfill a crucial role in the lives of many.
