Rendering of the Yuma Arizona Temple

What Is the Best Time to Visit the Yuma Arizona Temple for Photography?

Discovering the Yuma Arizona Temple

The Yuma Arizona Temple, located at East 36th Street and South 8 East Avenue in Yuma, Arizona, represents a significant development for the Latter-day Saints in the region. Announced on April 7, 2024, by President Russell M. Nelson during the 194th Annual General Conference, this Temple will add to the rich tapestry of spiritual facilities in southwestern Arizona.

Rendering of the Yuma Arizona Temple

Upon completion, the Yuma Arizona Temple will be the seventh in the state, joining existing temples such as the Gilbert Arizona Temple, Mesa Arizona Temple, Phoenix Arizona Temple, Snowflake Arizona Temple, Gila Valley Arizona Temple, and Tucson Arizona Temple. At the time of the announcement, the state was home to over 440,000 Latter-day Saints organized into approximately 925 congregations.

Key Specifications

The Temple will be situated on a 7-acre site and will feature a striking exterior finish of granite. Its design includes a single attached end spire, and notably, it will forgo a Gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue, setting it apart from many other Temples.

Interior Layout

The Yuma Arizona Temple will encompass around 18,500 square feet, structured as a single-story building accompanied by an ancillary building. The layout indicates the inclusion of two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and an essential baptistry, facilitating various sacred functions.

Elevation and Size

The Temple will rise to an elevation of approximately 30 feet and will sit at an elevation of 210 feet. This placement offers a commanding view of the surrounding area, enhancing its prominence in Yuma.

Regional Impact

Markedly, this will be the first Temple constructed in the city of Yuma and the first in Yuma County as well. Once established, it will be notably the westernmost Temple in Arizona, positioned just 6 miles from California and 17 miles from Mexico.

Future Developments

The rendering of the Yuma Arizona Temple was released on November 24, 2025. While the closest Temple at the time of its announcement was the San Diego California Temple, which is approximately 150 miles away, many in Yuma were attending the Phoenix Arizona Temple during the San Diego Temple’s renovations.

In conclusion, the Yuma Arizona Temple marks a significant step forward for Latter-day Saints in the area, providing a dedicated space for spiritual pursuits and enhancing the religious landscape of the region.
