Reasons the Yuma Arizona Temple Is the Most Unique Sacred Temple

Discovering the Yuma Arizona Temple

The Yuma Arizona Temple is an exciting addition to the area, located at the intersection of East 36th Street and South 8 East Avenue in Yuma, Arizona. This upcoming addition aims to serve the spiritual needs of the local population.

Rendering of the Yuma Arizona Temple was released on November 24, 2025

On April 7, 2024, President Russell M. Nelson made the formal announcement about the Yuma Arizona Temple during the 194th Annual General Conference. This announcement marked a pivotal moment for the residents of Yuma and the surrounding region, as it will be the first Temple constructed in Yuma County and the seventh in the state of Arizona. Other Temples already established in Arizona include the Gilbert Arizona Temple, the Mesa Arizona Temple, the Phoenix Arizona Temple, the Snowflake Arizona Temple, the Gila Valley Arizona Temple, and the Tucson Arizona Temple. At the time of the announcement, over 440,000 Latter-day Saints lived in the state, organized into approximately 925 congregations.

Temple Design and Features

The Yuma Arizona Temple will occupy a generous 7 acres of land, making it a substantial facility for the area. The exterior will be finished in granite, providing a durable and aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Architectural Highlights

  • Single-Story Design: The Temple will feature a single-story layout, making it accessible to all.
  • Spire: A unique architectural element will be a single attached end spire, although it will not include a Gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue.
  • Interior Spaces: According to the site plan, the Temple will feature two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and one baptistry, covering an area of approximately 18,500 square feet.

Elevation and Location

Situated at an elevation of 210 feet, the Yuma Arizona Temple will be built to a height of about 30 feet. Once completed, it will hold the distinction of being the westernmost Temple in Arizona, located just 6 miles from California and 17 miles from Mexico.

Construction Timeline and Community Impact

The architectural rendering for the Yuma Arizona Temple was made public on November 24, 2025. This project is of significant importance to the local population, especially considering the closest Temple at the time of its announcement was the San Diego California Temple, roughly 150 miles away. Many members had been traveling to the Phoenix Arizona Temple, which was approximately the same distance.

A New Era for Yuma

The addition of the Yuma Arizona Temple promises to enhance the spiritual landscape of Yuma. This forthcoming addition reflects the growth and vitality of the Latter-day Saints in the area, making it an exciting development for all involved.

As the construction progresses, the entire region looks forward to this meaningful new presence that will enrich the lives of many.
